Introducing Perfect Mess

Does Perfect exist in this messy world?  It can when we shift our search from perfection to Perfect Love, and here is where we discover how.  Through a weekly blog, vblog, and interactive bible studies, we will journey from perfect mess to perfectly loved.

“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.”

1 John 1:7 (ESV)

Rhonda's Facebook

"But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city had no need of sun or of moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is the light." Revelation 21:22-23

One day soon we will walk in the REAL that we sometimes must press so hard to enter into.

The closer we come, the harder the press seems to feel. Almost like a young oak, trying to burst through that final tough layer of rough top soil, we feel the pressing, and sometimes it feels as if its us causing the pressure.

Yet, it isn't.

It's just Jesus.

He alone, expressing Himself through us, in us, until He breaks through us, and we break through all the unreal and become His expression of glory in this world.

We may see, hear, and experience the world, but only He bore the weight of it.

Just Jesus.

One day soon, we will walk into the REAL, where even the air we breathe, the light by which we see, and the worship by which our hearts come fully alive will reach full expression.

We will experience then the beautiful simplicity of what it is to have no more unreal to press through.

Just Jesus.

Oh, what a glorious future awaits us.

Jesus, help us press on to keep our lives simply about You. Amen.

Fear-false evidence appearing real.

There is lots of reasons to fear, there always has been. There always will be.

I use to have a saying I would tell myself to help keep my priorities straight. I would say, "Rhonda, keep your loves in order and all else will be in order.,"

I find myself these days saying the same thing, but replacing the word "fear", as I have struggled lately with letting fear keep me from always having my loves in order.

So, now I am saying, "Rhonda, keep your fears in order and then all your loves will be in order."

It's amazing how quickly fear can come in between love.

Yet God offers us an escape from fear. He doesn't blindly say, "don't be afraid."

He offers us a greater fear than those things we are afraid of.

He says, "fear Me, I Am greater than anything you could ever face and I Am for you."

God never asks us to not be afraid, He asks us to trust Him in the midst of our fear and believe that He is truly with us.

He did this with Moses when He called Him to go deliver His people.

He did this when He sent Joshua to go conquer the land.

He did this with us when He promised He would send our Helper who would be with us and us.

Over and over in the bible, God uses circumstances around us that illicit fear to demonstrate the truth about where our hearts really are.

Do we truly trust God, or not?

When our greater fear is God, we may be shaking in our boots, but we are going forward.

Jesus, help us keep our fears in order and keep Fear of You as our top fear so that the fears of this world will not be a snare to us. Thank You for standing with us in the midst of such fearful times. When we stand before You, surely we will say, "never once were we forsaken." We love You, amen.

Two things that make a follower of Jesus different in this world.

Jesus is truly thier first love. And not only that, but His love drives His person.

Which leads to the second thing that makes the follower different in this world, His love drives the Way inside His beloved.

While the rest of the world is ascribing to man made ways of being and doing, or even feeling, a follower of Christ looks completely different.

They are moved by one thing only, an abiding love relationship with Jesus, Himself.

While the rest of the world is moving towards the world's systems and goals, the follower of Christ is experiencing the wonder of being caught up in the most extravagant, ever expanding, ever fulfilling adventure ever, that of being a living vessel of Christ's love.

The world seeks to carve out a path, find love, and leave legacy.

The follower of Christ is abiding in a Living Way that accomplishes all of the above, but yet seeks none of it.

I'm simply loving Jesus with all our heart, we gain all ours and so much more.

This is the face behind the mess. I realize many may not know me in person.
My name is Rhonda and I'm a wife, mom, former elementary school counselor. I fell in love with Jesus and the Bible when I realized what a perfect mess I was at age thirty. I was going through a divorce and pregnant with my second child. All my life choices up had culminated into one heaping mess and a moment when I realized there was no one left to blame but myself.
It was such a relief to finally admit that I was lost, didn't have the answers and didn't even have the strength to seek them anymore.
I love Jesus and believe in Him because He's the God Who comes for us in THOSE moments.
I pray that I can stay in THAT rest, the rest that KNOWS its okay to be me because He is my Savior and my LORD. And He came for me, knowing He would find me right in my biggest mess.
I trust Him because as I've come to walk with Him over these past 18 years, I have understood more and more what it means that His perfect love casts out all fear.
He became a Perfect Mess on my behalf (and yours), knowing in advance that all He would get in return was a chance that this perfect mess might recognize Him, and one day want to be made clean in His love.
I have so far to go, but I am so thankful for Jesus and for each of you who, like me, have decided to exchange your perfect mess for the one Who became a Perfect Mess on our behalf. I can't wait to give you all a hug and high five at THE FINISH LINE.

How dare we ever lesson the grip by which has snatched us straight from hell?
To lesson the grip is to let others slip through Christ's nail scarred hands.
I am a hell bound sinner, bent on destroying myself and everyone around me save Christ's Grace upon my life.
I need His grace as much as the air I breathe.
I need His grace every second.
I need His grace over every one of my thoughts.
I am a perfect mess save the One Who made Himself a Perfect Mess on my behalf.
We all need Jesus' grace over our lives.
It's our one true equalizer and in the end, it will be the only thing that distinguishes us from one another.
There will be those who SAW their need for His grace and received it.
And those who SAW their need for it, but instead of receiving it, spent their lives trying to justify themselves before men and God.
One day we will each stand before the One Who became a Perfect Mess on each of our behalf and there will be no more justifying on that day.
We will gaze upon the eyes of the One whom we have pierced, and we will know as we have been fully known.
There will be no more words, just an acknowledgment that He is altogether Right and it's been His grace that has ever caused any of us to stand.
Jesus, help our brothers and sisters who are loosening the grip to SEE and REPENT, and RETURN to Your Grace Alone. Amen.

Jesus is always asking each of us for a drink from a well He knows we only have access to through Him.
Our response to His asking tells us the truth about how we see ourselves and Him.
Some of us, believing we are amply supplied with water, offer Him freely from our overabundance of what we have determined He is seeking.
Others of us, like the woman at the well, toss back a resentful statement for His asking.
We have accepted our identity and resent any confrontation that demands we adjust who we are for another.
What a gift we receive when we allow ourselves the chance to SEE who we are through His eyes.
For the first group, the truth that we can freely admit we have nothing to offer God, save that which He offers us. We are free to stop performing every time someone asks us for a drink of Him.
For the second group, we are free to SEE ourselves as Jesus does, to rest in the refreshing reality that He makes our past, present, and future an ever springing up life before us, free from boxes that others have tried to shove us into. In His eyes, we get to become whole new creations, living from His definition of who we are, which is good, whole, holy and right.
Jesus asks us for what He knows He alone can provide us, and in His asking, He is inviting us into the abundant, ever refreshing life that springs up from being vitally connected to Him.
Jesus, help us let go of ourselves, and jump into the wellspring with You. Amen

"The bride will go where the bridegroom is." John 3:29
"Those who believe in Him discover that God is true." John 3:33

One moment can chance everything.
One moment, we are ours and the whole universe seems to be shifting beneath our feet.
No certainty.
No lasting peace.
No true hope.
Only a striving, a chasing, and grasping for a million little pieces, in hopes that the chasing keeps us distracted from the gravity of our reality.
This is us before our wedding day.
We strive to become something we can never be.
And then He comes.
And in a moment, we are stirred to faith as we recognize He is everything we are not.
He is certain and true.
He is peace and peaceful.
He is whole and holy.
And as He reaches out His hand, we recognize the question He is asking, "will you marry Me?"
Will you leave your life of striving and enter Mine of standing?
What a gift it is when we say, "yes," and we become the Bride of Christ.

Mornings with Jesus are magical to me, I can stumble into our study, head hazy with worldly concerns, sometimes with only enough clarity to know that I need to get to Jesus. And He shows up, every single time!
As I lay my head in His lap and began to let myself become wrapped in the wonder of Him, I become resurrected anew in who He is. A million deaths and rebirths have happened for me this way, in just acknowledging my need for Him, He fills me with all I lack.
This morning was no different, only it was, in the sense that a simple question I had asked Him about my health turned into an invitation to join Him in discovering all He has to say about one certain topic; Choosing Life.
The verses below have saved my life and sanity over and over again, yet as much as I have gained from them, Jesus is showing me that I have still so much more to learn about choosing life and what it really looks like in my life.
Deuteronomy 30:19-20” I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live, loving the Lord your God, obeying his voice and holding fast to him, for he is your life and length of days, that you may dwell in the land that the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.”
John 14:6 “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.”
As He spoke these words to me today and opened my eyes to ways that I am still not applying these verses, in essence, not trusting Him, in my life, I felt a divine invitation happen in my heart. It was like He was extending His hand out towards me asking, “Do you really want to know what choosing Life in Me looks like?”
I am saying, “yes!”
And I am inviting you along with me.
I will post here at least three times a week about how Jesus is prompting me to choose Life.
I will begin with how this whole thing got started today.
As I was praying about my health, this is what I heard in my heart.
Rhonda, you cannot sow where you have not reaped. Make room for LIFE and you will find it. ( finish at blog).#chooselife

"For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God" Colossians 3:3

There is a beautiful, free, ever expanding life just waiting for me each time I step out of me and into the wondrous possibility of Christ.

The new creation He causes me to be simply springs to life the moment I remember that I died with Christ. It's as if I get to experience a million personal Resurrection mornings dawning in me!
I die, and He raises me anew.

Again and Again and Again.

The two greatest miracles Christ has done and is ever doing in me are this;

He surely gives me a safe place to die, and release my heavy burdened self to His hands.

He surely causes me to live, a life free from all the bondage tied to that burdened down old self.
We marvel at the miracles He did in His earthly ministry, yet can there be any greater miracle than that we witness each day dead men walking around, fully alive and free in Christ?
What an amazing Savior we have!

When I consider these verses and this devotion today, I can't help but think of Matthew 7:22-23, where Jesus speaks of a day when many will be surprised when they stand before Him in His Kingdom. "Many will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name? And then I will declare to them, I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!" It's so easy to say, "Jesus is love, therefore I will love people in His name!" And then we run off without Him, believing we are doing His will.
Or to say, "Jesus is truth, so I will pursue truth and proclaim truth in His name!" And we run off without Him, and believe we are doing His will.
Or say, "Jesus is Life! Therefore I will tell others and show them what life looks like in His name."
But, we run off without Him and believe we are doing His will.
We forget that Jesus said, "I am the Way!" That means that, without Him, there is no love, truth, or life.
We can't leave Him out of building His own kingdom. He builds us, and in knowing Him, we become living stones in His unshakable, eternal Kingdom. He, alone, expresses Himself through us. And in so doing, we come to KNOW, BELIEVE, and EXPAND the very Kingdom of God.
Its easy to build a kingdom based on our own understanding of Jesus, that leaves out the REALITY of Him.
There are many kingdoms built that proclaim Jesus, yet have nothing to do with His true identity.
If Jesus, Himself, is not the vital source and inspiration of the kingdom, it is a farce, a man made kingdom that distracts others from finding and seeking the True and LIVING Way which is Christ Alone.
We out to be wise and consider the source of what kingdoms we align our souls to during our earthly journey. We have but a small window to Recognize and Receive the True, Living, Eternal God.
All other kingdoms will surely pass away.
Jesus, please open our eyes wide to SEE and FIND You, alone. Amen.

When we begin to SEE with the eyes of our heart, like street signs held out over our souls, we can begin to SEE which Way leads to life and which leads to death by listening to what words are spoken.
Our battle is not against flesh and blood, yet our emeny will use the tongues of those influenced by death to spread his cause here on earth.
Yet, we have great power to overcome.
How?
When we hear death, we speak Life!
Not our own ideas of what life is, for there is no power in that.
But, Life, Himself, Christ in us, the Hope of glory, living inside us has the power to make even the darkest corner of earth alive with His Light, His Words, His thoughts, His Spirit alive through us.
When we lean on Him, we are able to turn His light on and make a path that was death suddenly spring a new direction to Life, simply by opening a mouth that is fully surrendered to Christ.
The bait that leads to death is set. The enemy is counting on us to take it, and boast of it, and in so doing, fulfill his plans of stealing, killing, and destroying many.
I pray we will KNOW LIFE, LEAN ON HIM, and turn His Light on Brightly.
Jesus, help us love Life and not death and help us be those who speak Life and not death in this world. Amen.

When we SEE ourselves in God's sight, we SEE the truth about us, that we are utterly destitute sinners , whom without Christ's unimaginable mercy poured over us, were damned for all eternity. We understand that we have absolutely NO right to stand EXCEPT that Christ blood and love compells us, and only that others might SEE and receive the same kindness and mercy from God that we ourselves have been mercifully given.
When we SEE the world today, we ought not to judge, but to pray for a blind world who cannot SEE.
Unlike blind Bartemaus, we don't see our true nature and know that Jesus is here to heal us.
When we see the truth about ourselves, we can't help but see our need to exchange it for the One Who is our Truth, our Life and our Way.
We can learn from blind Bartemaus, who, wasn't afraid to exchange his truth in order to SEE.
Mark 10:51 “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him.
The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see"
Jesus, help us SEE, we need Your healing of our sight so that we can truly SEE You and SEE one another through Your Love. Amen..

John 15:13,15 "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends...I have called you friends..."
Human nature is to protect that for which Christ died for us to have the right and the power to lay down.
My flesh, my point of view, all my self protections, the ways I defend my ways in a world that I am suppose to be crucified to, these are ways that keep me from simply being a friend of God.
He calls me, holds out His hand and beckons me to walk with Him. And I know the price to do so is to leave all behind, and simply take hold and walk with Him, and trust that He Who loves me, Who sees me, Who knows me, will carry me faithfully through this life til I see Him face to face.
Jesus, help us simply walk with You today, and be a true friend to You. Help us stop trying to define what it all should look like, and simply let You be Who You came to be in us, and through us, Our Friend in this world. Amen.

Jesus died under our judgement. He hung, like a Door upon a hinge, offering each of us a chance to walk out of our own self condemned lives into a life of wholeness and holiness purchased by His own right standing before God.
It occurred to me today how every word of God proves true.
In His death for us, His feet had no place to stand. Nailed to the Cross, He had to press into the Cross in order to lift Himself up for every breath, for every last word and prayer He spoke on our behalf.
Revelation 20:11 states, "Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, for no place was found for them."
One day, others will be forced to stand before God, ones who stood firmly on earth will stand before the One Who was lifted up from the earth for them, and they will SEE and KNOW that they have no standing with Him.
Some of us are having to press hard against the Cross right now for every breathe.
It's worth it!
If even one comes to a place to stand before Jesus on that day, and to be counted holy and blameless before Him, its worth it.
Thank You, Jesus, for giving us standing in You not because they lived a righteous life, but because we SAW and BELIEVED You, Who IS OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.
YOU Alone are our only place to truly stand, both here and in eternity.
JESUS, help us continue to press into You, our LORD, so that others might have a chance to truly SEE and BELIEVE You and come to know that You are LORD. Help many find a sure place to stand in You, the One who bore our judgement so that we can stand secure in Your presence. Amen.

Where we place our heart tells so much about where we believe our home is.
I find myself needing visual reminders lately of where my REAL home is, and it's NOT here.
When I died with Christ, I got to make my home with Him, in heaven. This means that the moment I became His, I became a sojourner here, someone only passing through on my way to my REAL home.
Because I belong to Him. I get to represent Him here on earth, enjoying my time here as I share His love and fellowship with others around me.
But, because this place is not my REAL home, I don't have to live in fear and become entangled in it, or feel threatened by this world's system.
I belong to a whole other atmosphere, its called heaven! Its God's Kingdom!
I am ruled by my Father's Kingdom and I need not fear my Father's kingdom because it's built on love. It's built on love that always chooses to love me first, and meet me where I'm at (1st John 4:19), it's also built on mercy, mercy that runs towards me when I am weakest and willing to admit it (Titus 3:5), and grace, that chose to wear my sin upon Himself so that I might be made whole and clean and able to stand in His Presence in my heavenly home (Ephesians 2:8-9). The darker and darker this world becomes, the more thankful I become that this world is not my home.
Father, I pray that all my brothers and sisters will take comfort in the knowledge that we are only here for a little while, and we were never meant to feel at home in this world system. Its a temporary system built by broken people who cannot succeed unless they abide in You. Thank You for providing us a sure place to stand in You, Who IS our home. Help us remember to abide in You and to offer hope to others who may need help finding the Open Door to Your House at this dark hour. We love You. Thank you for being such a Good Shepherd and Father to us. In Jesus name. Amen.

In the end we either represent ourselves or Christ.
Jesus knew how to stay perfectly aligned to His Father at all times, yet also perfectly outstretched towards us at the same time.
The tension He held within Him fully manifested at the Cross, where His body was held upright, yet arms outstretched wide, toward us.
Perfect righteousness hung for us all to see as a witness of what perfect love, righteousness, and God's grace towards sinful men looks like. We each get to choose for ourselves if we want to accept God's judgement upon sin that fell on His Son, or if we want to stand on our own two feet, and one day accept what falls when we literally stand before Him and admit that we saw, we knew, but we chose to stay in self representation rather than accept the gift His Son came to give in dying for our sin.
LORD, we are without excuse. You came, we witnessed, we know. Remove what hinders our hearts from fully receiving all You came to give us when You gave us Your Son. Help us realize that we have no right to stand anywhere but in You, and keep us aligned with You. Help us recieve the mercy You came to give us. In Jesus name. Amen.

Our home is a Kingdom whose pillars are justice and righteousness, where unfailing love and truth walk before us.
Our physical feet may not walk there yet, but our spiritual feet can as we worship our LORD and King, and rejoice in His righteousness all day long.
"This is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long."
Jesus, thank You, that we can inhabit You, here and now, we can enter Your courts with Thanksgiving and Praise. We celebrate You and Your Kingdom coming here on earth as it is in heaven. You, alive in us, the hope of glory. What an honor to shine for You, Jesus! I just want to praise You all day long, the world will set its eyes on the world, but I will set my eyes on You, my Home, My King, My Alpha and my Omega, Christ, My Savior. Amen.

I am setting my mind on things above, where my true home is.
Jesus, thank You for Your new mercies every morning. Thank You for implanting in me Your own JOY that gives me strength to keep my eyes in You, despite what my eyes see or my heart feels at times.
Thank You that I know, even right now, You are preparing the final touches on our home in heaven, even as You prepare the final touches on us, Your Bride here on earth.
Just as You endured the Cross set before You for the Joy set before You, there is such Joy in my heart as I set my face to seek Your face alone. In Your name, I place my hope, trust, faith, and glory. Jesus, I pray that all my brothers and sisters who You have ordained to know You, will hear Your voice above all the world and come home. Amen.

"He took his staff in his hand and chose five smooth stones from the brook and put them in his shepherd's pouch. His sling was in his hand, and he approached the Philistine."
1 Samuel 17:40.
"Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil." Ephesians 6:11
God's armor is not simply acknowledging our need for armor but actually wearing it.
Its how David, a young boy dressed only in shepherd's attire, could kill Goliath while Saul, who was covered in armor, was not willing to fight.
One was dressed in faith in self (his own armor), while the other was dressed in faith in the Living God.
When we are standing in ourselves, we can't win. And something deep inside knows it.
When the giants come, we retreat from battle.
When we are standing in Christ, we can't lose.
You will recognize those dressed in Christ, they are the ones running towards the giants.
I have been both, but I have trusted God enough times to know the thrill of those moments when He shows up in me, and slays the giant that I know I never could.
There is no greater experience than to watch the Living God win in you.
The tragedy of our day is that so many have never truly trusted God's armor.
The giants are coming.
Jesus, help us be truly ready to stand.

Abraham was called out to walk with God, by faith, towards a Promise from God he didn't fully understand or even see fulfilled during his earthly lifetime.
Yet, as He journeyed with God towards a Promised land, he began to lay hold of a greater reality, that relationship with God IS our Promise, and that the territory we claim as we walk with Him, we get get to keep eternally.
Like Abraham and like Zacchaeus, we are each invited by God to walk towards a Promise we don't get to fully understand this side of heaven, but yet we get to experience a greater surety than can be found any other place, the knowledge that we are beloved children of God.
We can choose to be children of men, and try and carve out a firm place here in the world.
Or, we can become children of God, and stand in Him firmly, letting ourselves become sojourners here during this brief life.
"But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city." Hebrews 11: 16

Has your grave been opened? Mine has.
And because it has, I am free to behold the glory and grace of who I am fully redeemed in our LORD!
And I am free to see the potential in everyone, even those who have been bound in a grave for a very long time, and whose bones may be "very dry."
Heaven forbid that my awareness of another's tomb becomes greater than my awareness of my own empty tomb.

Jesus, thank You for the hope in knowing that You are STILL rolling away stones, releasing captives, and setting us free. Forgive us when we fail to see life outside of our tombs. Fill us with fresh awareness that we are ALIVE IN YOU! Let us RUN out of these tombs, and show the world what a church, fully alive in You looks like! Amen

"The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not him. He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." John 1:9-13
The longer I walk with Christ and the more I see things unravel in me and in this world, the clearer I understand the sacred truth if what Jesus truly accomplished in me, in each of us who have truly believed Him and allowed ourselves to be made new by Him.
Darkness comes, its inescapable, yet even when my own reason says, "I can't understand, I can't see a way, " He gets up in me.
And I am suddenly propelled by Life in me that I know is not from me.
His Light overcomes the darkness in me.
That is the greatest miracle.
It's how I know His light has and will overcome the darkness in the whole world.

Hey ladies,
Here is the latest teaching from Becoming Ewe 2.0.

We only have 1 more week to go in this series!

I started two new things this week,
First was actually a re-start to teaching back in Perfect Mess.
We meet in room 103 at FBC Huffman at 9:15 am on Sundays if you ever want to join us in person.
Second, I started my new job as executive director of the pregnancy center in Dayton.
I hope to soon have a prayer day and time for us where we can come and pray there for our families, community, state and world!
What an AMAZING time it is to be a child of God!
The only other time as exciting was when Jeaus walked here on earth!
Now He is walking with us, in us and preparing us to walk out of this world and straight into His Presence!
Only He can shepherd us on such a journey!

I love you ladies and so honored and blessed to be on this journey with you.

His and yours,

Rhonda

What an appropriate devotion for such a time as this.
Oh, how simple it is to stay in our safe places.
The beautiful truth is that God's grace has paved out room for us to either stay or go.
But, oh how we must bless His heart when we go, when choose stretching over staying.
Sometimes I wonder if these moments are captured in some sort of heavenly baby book where each moment we reach past ourselves to become more unified with Christ is memorialized in our Father's heart and our heavenly home.
Jesus, help us become more concerned with becoming Yours than ours. Give us the faith to let go and choose the best choice, You are always our best choice. Amen.

While resting and recouping today today, I've been going through old journals from my first few years as a believer.
How humbling!
How refreshing!
Remembering those feelings of not knowing where exactly where I was headed, but yearning so strongly to run full speed ahead towards Jesus.
How I wanted to know "the way", how I didn't yet understand that He had already become my "Way."
And now, after years of walking with Him, falling down, getting back up, learning to trust, learning to fall forward, in grace..
I long to run, full speed ahead towards Jesus, no longer afraid of all the unknowns in me or Him, but embracing fully the One Who holds, Who has always held my heart ♥ tightly in the palm on His hands.

To go along with the post before, Jesus here in Luke 12:4-5 doesn't seem to be afraid or encouraging us to be afraid of what will happen to our bodies.
He encourages us to fully entrust our lives to Him, believing that God knows every hair on our head.
He says, "don't be afraid of those who want to kill you."
As I consider these verses and the huge waves of fear I see engulfing so many right now, I think about 1 John 4:8, "There is no fear in love but perfect love drives out fear..."
We can't love others and fear them at the same time.
Either we die to ourselves and our own sense of self preservation and place ourselves fully in Christ, and let Him love through us, or we stand in fear, conjuring up some self made idea of what love is, all the while trying to insulate ourselves from the true thing.
It terrifies me when I think of the consequences of what we do when we try to keep ourselves safe from God's definition of love.
Jesus, please help us love perfectly, as You did, and give us the courage to conform to Your definition of perfect love, even when we don't know how and it scares us. Make us ready to stand before You. Amen.

It takes some fortitude during this time to choose life and blessing.
Every voice is screaming around us, "death, destruction, you must protect yourself at all cost!"
God let's us choose what our destiny will be, yet He clearly tells us in advance, unless you forcefully choose life and blessing, you are not choosing Me. "...for He IS your life and length of days.." Duet.30:20.
The word choose in Hebrew is a verb that suggest not a arbitrary whim, but a thorough examination of the situation. The verb suggests trying, testing, or joining.
As I read the definition, I clearly see Christ's outstretched hand, asking us to join Him, test Him, try Him, and as we do, we get to discover Life and blessing.
Our natural sheep like inclination is to choose death, and curse, letting fear be our dictators, and self perceived preservation be our path.
It takes Holy gumption to reach in the polar opposite direction and choose Life instead.
It takes Christ life in us, which He freely offered and which we only discover as we forcefully reach out, disobeying our natural instincts for self preservation, and choose life anyway.
Perhaps God has allowed this dark time in history to discover who truly has the gumption to choose Him. We don't often see the truth about ourselves and about what we truly believe about Him until our hands are forced through choice.
Jesus, help us have the courage to face the truth about ourselves during this dark time and choose You, knowing we are choosing Life and blessing as we do. Give us the holy gumption to let go of our lives so we can place them securely in Your hands. Amen.

We live in a time when it's so easy to treat our spiritual life like we do the rest of life.
Fast food, constant streams of comfort, distraction and entertainment, anything we need and want is at our fingertips.
It is so easy to try and cram God into the mix and pat ourselves on the back for having spent a "quiet time" with Him.
It's so easy to siphon off from someone else's spiritual life and never really discover the richness of what your own can taste like.
When I was a little girl, I would save my already been chewed gum, just incase I missed any flavor from it and wanted to try and eek out the last of it after my tastebuds had cooled off.
I can't imagine anyone prefering one of my already been chewed gum globs over their own freshly unwrapped piece.
What a joy it is to take those first few chews that are bursting with flavor!
That's what is waiting for us in God's Word!
Psalm 34:8 says, "Taste and see that the LORD is good, blessed are those who take refuge in Him."
Jesus is often referred to as our, "Bread of Life." Who can resist a warm hunk of just out of the oven bread, with crunchy crust and lots of butter?
That's what it is like when we sit before God's Word and dine for ourselves. We get to taste who He is to us, not the filtered out version He is through someone else.
He has special and specific joy and nourishment for each of us each day.
Oh, how I pray we let Him feed us straight from His hand!
I love listening and learning from other teachers and love to teach myself, but my greatest times are when it is just Jesus and I, alone at a table for two, and He is feeding me from the most exquisitely laid out feast, specially chosen for me. Oh, how I wish every person in the world could experience such joy!

What's next?
Like a freshly sterilized kitchen counter, we've been wiped clean as a culture and the recipe to what we will become so much depends on what we have stored up in our cupboards during this time of uncertainty.
We learn so much truth about ourselves during times of uncertainty. We learn the truth of who we really are and what we truly believe about God.
Some of us will come out of this clinging ever more tightly to our own sense of control. Having faced the uncontrollable, we will eke a way to maintain our own little self-made universe in which we get to be sovereign, its the only way we feel safe.
Others of us will come out of this having come to the most freeing conclusion ever, that we are utterly incapable of maintaining our own universe. Like soldiers who know they are surrounded, we will come out waving our white flags, admitting defeat and surrendering our lives to the Lordship of the only One who truly knows how to rule us, our Father.
And sadly, some of us will, after having surrendered, will struggle with moments of trying to retreat back to our own self- conjured universes because we still don't know how to trust You fully.
Thank-You, Jesus, for grace that carries the weight of us as You wait for us to fully entrust our lives to You during our journey of living in this time of gracious uncertainty.

Oh, the consequences of trying to carry our own weight once it has already been carried by Christ.
In the end, we will stand on what we have tried to do for God or we allowed Him to do for us.
We will either readily admit that we tried to be our own shepherd, and in so doing, tried to earn umpire how we allowed God to shepherd us, or we will have simply acknowledge that Jesus IS our Shepherd, and we will have let Him lead us.

I learned a lot the other day when I tried to carry our cross through our neighborhood for a prayer walk.
What I hoped and imagined would be a prayer filled time for me to intercede for my neighbors turned out instead to be an humbling, even heartbreaking time for me to be confronted with my own weakness and inability.
Let me preface this by giving you some background about what Jesus has been working on teaching me during this time, He has had me in the book of Galatians for almost a year now, as I am mediating on God's gift of grace to us and to make Paul's famous word's in Galatians 2:20 true in my own heart, "I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives within me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."
The first thing I noticed as I set out to follow through in carrying this cross was, I'm embarrassed to say, my immediate awareness of what others around me might be thinking. My senses seemed to suddenly be heightened of who was watching and what they must be thinking as I went toward the cross. I could not help but think of the moment that Jesus, surrounded by a multitude who mocked, and beat Him, willingly clung to the cross for me. I was so embarrassed by own propensity to still care of what others thought of me. What kind of love forcefully pushes His way through mockers, beatings and insults to lay hold of the cross that we deserve? It humbles me how often I let go of the cross so quickly out of fear of what others think.
I hope I can become more like Jesus, willingly letting go, pressing forward, unafraid.
Of course, all that vanished when I actually got the cross upon my shoulders, granted, mine had a wheel to help shoulder the weight.
His didn't.
It was HEAVY!
I had a hard time thinking of anything else other than how I could keep balancing the cross, while still carrying it.
Oh, can you not relate?
A wrong step and the cross was shifting in a way that made it hard for me to shoulder, all the while, the weight of it pinching and pulling at my skin, straining muscles I didn't know existed.
Oh, how carrying the cross stretches us, and oh how it makes us move spiritual muscles we never knew we had.
Sometimes it even leaves tears upon our lives, tears we soon discover are actually doors through which we explore deeper caverns of His grace.
Where I had originally planned for this walk to be about praying for others, I found that I was crying out for Jesus to help me just successfully complete this walk.
Our cross walk is about Him alone, sure, Christ may use us to flow His glory through to others along the way, yet in the end, we will stand before Him alone, presenting back to Him alone the story of grace He has written over our lives.
In Luke 9:23, Jesus says, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me." It's so easy to interpret that, "denying ourselves," as meaning that we are to serve others. Yet, that's not what He said, in fact in the very next verse (vs 24), He brings more clarity, "For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it." Jesus knew how to perfectly give away His life for our sake. He knew how to perfectly entrust His Father for direction, supply in every need, and ultimately for the faith and power to accomplish His purpose for coming, to become our Lamb of God, slain for our sins.
And just as Jesus was able to give His life away, so He too has enabled us. He has given us all we need to successfully finish our walk towards Him as we keep our attention upon Him.
Not surprising, I did not make it very far on my cross walk. I only made it around the corner of my block before I realized that I couldn't go much further (granted our streets are long).
As I headed back towards home, I found myself getting more and more excited about the prospects of getting the weight of the cross off my shoulders.
This leads me to my final lesson I learned.
In 2 Timothy 4:8, Paul knew his life of carrying his heavy cross was coming to a close and he was writing to encourage those of us who would be coming behind him with these words, "Henceforth there is a laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the LORD, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day, but not only me, but to all who love His appearing." This life is short! Before we know it, we will stand before the face of our King, and what a blessing it will be when we have faithfully carried our cross to the finish line.
I probably won't ever try carrying that cross again, yet I am thankful for what Jesus showed me through trying. Ultimately, I am thankful that I learned how heavy my cross is, for it reminds me that He alone could bear the weight of it, and when I carry my cross, what I am really doing is letting Him carry me.
That's what grace is!
I finally get it, Jesus!
Thank-you!
Happy Good Friday!

I did not write this poem, but have used it several times in my teaching and have thought about it many times over these past couple of weeks.
I'm not sure exactly what God is doing, but I am sure that He is loving us and that He is wanting us to know Him, and sometimes His ways of causing those two to sincerely happen look dramatically different than how we might think or choose. Love y'all and praying for all of us.

Desperately, helplessly, longingly, I cried:
Quietly, patiently, lovingly God replied.
I pled and I wept for a clue to my fate,
and the Master so gently said, “Child, you must wait”.

“Wait? You say, wait!,” my indignant reply.
“Lord, I need answers, I need to know why!
Is your hand shortened? Or have you not heard?
By Faith, I have asked, and am claiming your Word.

My future and all to which I can relate,
hangs in the balance, and YOU tell me to WAIT?
I’m needing a ‘yes’, a go-ahead sign,
or even a ‘no’ to which I can resign.

And Lord, You promised that if we believe
we need but to ask, and we shall receive.
Lord, I’ve been asking, and this is my cry:
I’m weary of asking! I need a reply!”

Then quietly, softly, I learned of my fate,
As my Master replied once again, “You must wait.”
So I slumped in my chair, defeated and taut,
and grumbled to God, “So, I’m waiting...for what?”

He seemed, then, to kneel, and His eyes wept with mine,
and He tenderly said, “I could give you a sign.
I could shake the heavens, and darken the sun.
I could raise the dead, and cause mountains to run.

All you seek I could give, and pleased you would be.
You would have what you want - But, you wouldn’t know Me.”
“You’d not know the depth of My love for each saint;
You’d not know the power that I give to the faint;

You’d not learn to see through the clouds of despair;
You’d not learn to trust just by knowing I’m there;
You’d not know the joy of resting in Me
When darkness and silence were all you could see.”

“You’d never experience that fullness of love
as the peace of My Spirit descends like a dove;
You’d know that I give and I save...(for a start),
But you’d not know the depth of the beat of My heart.

“The glow of My comfort late into the night,
The faith that I give when you walk without sight.
The depth that’s beyond getting just what you asked
of an infinite God, who makes what you have LAST.”

“You’d never know, should your pain quickly flee,
What it means that “My grace is sufficient for Thee.”
“Yes, your dreams for your loved one overnight would come true.
But, Oh, the Loss! If I lost what I’m doing in you!

So, be silent, My Child, and in time you will see,
that the greatest of gifts is to get to know Me.”
“And though oft’ may My answers seem terribly late.
My most precious answer of all is still, ‘WAIT’.”

We are the bride! This is our time to prepare as never before. "Hallelujah! For the LORD our God the Almighty reigns, Let us rejoice and exalt and give him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and the Bride has made herself ready; it was granted her to clothe herself with linen, bright and pure"
for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints." Revelation 19:6-8
If we believe we truly ARE the Bride, we won't be afraid to truly let Jesus make us into who we have BECOME by His grace.
Jesus made Himself ready for us, becoming one with us in our sin. We fool ourselves when we think it was easy for Him. It would have been easy for Him as Son of God, yet He died as Son of Man. He stayed humbled to bear our sins, not calling upon His authority as Son of God to help Him, He stayed entrusted to the Father's hands till it was accomplished.
And now we get to be dressed in what He died for us to wear, His righteousness. What a beautiful privilege to be the Bride of Christ!

There is only one direction God's light shines, forward!
Sometimes we want to go backward and ask Him to justify things from the past, or sideways where all our anxieties tend to dwell here in the world of horizontal.
Yet, Jesus says, " when you are ready, we can go forward."
At some point we will wear ourselves out striving in our futile ways, getting nowhere.
And, finally decided to trust Jesus, seek His face and get going in the forward of Christ.
There is a sense of surrender when we finally turn in all our sense of authority over directing our lives and simply move forward in the light that Jesus is shining for us.
That light may not seem like much, but it's the same light that has been leading His childten to victory since the beginning. His light is life, there is no other way forward.
"For with You is the fountain of life, in Your light we see." Psalm 36:9

Perhaps Jesus has chosen this time to unbind us to so many of the ways we tried to bind ourselves to Him so that He might bind ourselves to Himself alone.
I am finding it very convicting how restless I have been in trying to get to Jesus instead of just allowing myself to rest in Him who came for me.

Psalm 46 reminds us that we have a fortress among us, our LORD Almighty.
This world and all it's kingdoms will crumble and eventually fall, yet God never will.
Could it be that we are now seeing with our eyes just the beginning of the days Jesus spoke about long ago (see Luke 21)?
Great earthquakes, famines, pestilence, terrors and great signs in the heavens...no one would argue that we seeing these things happen during this time.
Jesus told us, "Look at the fig tree, and all the trees. As soon as they come out in leaf, you see for yourselves and know the summer is near. So also, when you see these things take place, you know that the kingdom of God is near," Luke 21:29-31.
We can look at events in our world and see them as a mirror of where we, as a world, stand with God.
But a better thing to do might be to take this time to examine your own heart.
Are you ready to stand before God?
He is coming, maybe sooner than we realize.
There is a fortress and a strong tower we can hide in right now, as well as eternally.
It is the Cross of Christ.
He is our righteous and as we place the weight of our lives in Him, we don't have to fear the weight of what's happening in this world.
All the sudden our hearts that were once anxious with fear can, "be silent and know that He is God." Psalm 46:10.
Have you ever asked Jesus to be your Savior? Why not today?

Jesus, help us discover You, our Shepherd, as we never have before. Thank-You for faithfully coming after Your sheep when we are lost, scared, sick, or shaken, or even when we have no idea we need a Shepherd. Thank You for all the ways You care for us, despite us, and how You teach us to walk in righteousness instead of letting us walk in what WE think is right. Thank-You for leading us home, to Your house, where we get to dwell with You forever. Forgive us for all the times we think we know the way better than You do.
Thank You for using this time of illness to heal us in ways we can never heal ourselves. Amen

Can God heal us? Of course He can, it is the reason He came.
Perhaps a greater question might be, "how does God heal us?" Isaiah 61 proclaims the very same words Jesus spoke to explain His purpose for coming (see Luke 4), "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because the LORD has annointed me to bring good news to the poor, he has sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, the opening of the prison to those who are bound, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor..." During His earthly ministry, He extended the power of what He had spoken through healing miracles, as well as many other miracles.
There is more than enough historical evidence to display Jesus can and did heal on earth.
As a woman who was sick for many years and who still struggles with some seemingly permanent (at least on earth) medical issues, I have wrestled with this aspect of Jesus' power probably more than any other.
If He can heal me, why is He is choosing not to?
As a girl who struggled with rejection most of my life, I won't lie, sometimes it has caused me to wonder if God too is rejecting me. After all, He knows me most. He is One I have turned to most during my season of broken dreams. He is the only One I could turn to when my heart was so scared and lost that I could not form prayers, only lay my face in my bible and cry inaudible words and moans. He was my refuge during that time, yet He was also the only One who could change my circumstance. Was He rejecting me by not granting my healing?
The longer I walk down this road with Jesus, the less I tend to worry about my physical healing.
I no longer sling out those hopeful prayers and thrust open each new doctors office door thinking, "this will be the one that gives us our answer!"
Although I still limp along alot of days, I have found a healing, an even greater one, happening in my heart and mind, a heart and mind that are truly set on heaven, on the face of Jesus.
He HAS become my healing!
He has become my Joy!
My prayers now focus on my Healer, not my healing. He has surely brought me an even greater healing than the one I was seeking.

Man, this was too good not to share!
There was one line from yesterday's teaching that rocked me and that goes hand in hand with this, "it's not the worst thing in the world when God begins teaching us how to truly be crucified."
The thought won't leave me that we will soon stand before Him where an examination will take place.
I want Him to examine my heart now!
I want to Jesus to be Real to me and in me now!
Sometimes it begins when I simply say, "I have no idea how to be right with You, but I want to."
I am so tired of justifying myself before Jesus and other people.
If I have am not right before Jesus, how can think I am right before others?
Maybe I don't know the first thing about being holy.
Maybe that's the point.
I need Jesus ALL the time, He's my only shot at rightness or holiness.
"If we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin." 1 John 1:7.
Jesus, help me to walk in Your Light, and that means I must admit that I don't have any light of my own. Help me see the truth about myself all the time, that I am weak, and I need You. And thank You for being strong and allowing me to walk with others in Your Light who are willing to walk in the light and the blood with me. It's a beautiful journey when we walk with You, learning to live move and breath in You, learning to truly be Your Body.
Amen.

Incase you are wondering right now what God is doing, here it is, He is loving you!
It may feel like everything in our world is pointing in the exact opposite direction to this truth.
Yet, thankfully God is not swayed by feelings.
When it was time for Him to manifest His complete love for us to the fullest extent, He allowed what felt the worst to happen to Him, His own humiliation and death on a Cross, our Cross.
He loved us with an everlasting love then, and He is still loving us now.
When we look at the Cross, we can't help but examine our lives in light of it.
Could it be that even now, admid all the madness around us, God is still drawing us to Himself in ways that feel completely contrary to how we expected?
Sooner than we might know or realize, we will see Him face to face. And in that moment, it won't matter to us how uncomfortable we felt through whatever measures He took to draw us close to His heart. We will only rejoice that we finally released ourselves to the unfailing love that had been drawing to Himself this whole time.
When we lift Jesus up, we come up with Him, and His up is limitless, and everlasting, so much greater than any human feelings can contain.

Just came in from driving the kids to school. It's the beginning of the last week of school, the last week to prepare for all the family coming over here for Christmas.
There are schedules, to-do lists, shopping list and of course a house to clean and gifts to wrap. And at the end of all that, there is an ache in my heart that I long for more....of Christmas.
I long to capture that "wonder " that Mary held in her heart as she contemplated the unimaginable Ways of God. And I long to grasp the Holiness and Sacredness of that first night, when angels were too EXCITED to hold it in, thier Joy, expressing God's Joy, that He was FINALLY coming into the world to touch, experience, know, feel, wear, and ultimately die for us, His kids, the ones He longed to be reconciled to.
Its funny how a moment can open a door into your heart to experience what your heart is aching for.
That's what happened to me this morning as I came back home, opened my door to witness this scene between our cat, rightly named Noel, and our nativity.
Despite all the "have to's" screaming out all around, she found a place to snuggle up to the One from Whom all our "get to's" come. Oh come let us Adore You, Jesus! Forgive us when we get so busy planning Your birthday party that we Miss You, the One for Whom and by Whom we have all our reasons to celebrate.
Thanks Noel, our kitty, for this sacred reminder.

World peace is not God's goal! If that were the case, don't you think God would have looked down on his creation at this moment in history with fondness in His heart and thought to Himself, "wow! They are finally hitting the mark!"
But thats not what He did.
Infact, He did the exact opposite.
He frustrated the plans of those who were trying to unite and build a building that reached, "to the heavens."
It's easy for us to sometimes see a plan as good and then assume that it must be God's.
But we can know this for sure, God will never desire us to build or be part of building something that will in any way cause us to be apart from Him, even if it looks like a good thing.
There is a difference between building upon good and building upon God.
And sometimes the hardest adversaries we face are not the overt ones, but the good ones.
When God wanted to bring the world peace, He didn't send a building committee, He sent His Son.
"For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6
And in sending His Son, He gave us each the chance to decide if we would be built in His Kingdom, the Kingdom that IS in the heavens, the one all our hearts ultimately long to call, "home."

"The entrance into the kingdom of God is through the sharp, sudden pains of repentence colliding with man's respectable "goodness."
The longer I walk with God, the more I realize that my part is simply to stay responsive to all He is willing to do in me to conform me into the likeness of His Son, Jesus.
At one time I believed that I had some part of adding to this transaction, but I realize now my only part is to allow myself to stand in Christ, believing He alone can and will unravel me from myself and make His Cross become as real in me as it was meant to be. And in so doing, the resurrection becomes real too. And I know that I am free indeed because of what God did that had nothing to do with me except my recieving the fact that I am chosen to have it. #jesusinme #repentance #redemption #oswald #utmostforhishighest #godlovesyou

"Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God." 1 John 4:7

It feels as is the world is looking at the church and saying, "where is the love?" Sometimes, I fear we as the church are looking to the world and wondering the same.
And my heart shuddders at the thought that God might be looking down at His kids and wonding, "where is the love?"
After all, He gave us ALL the love He had.
He wrapped Him up in a package that we could comprehend, and we "beheld his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth." John 1:14.
God's love. Perfect love incarnate came for us, leaving us without excuse for not offering back to God that which He so freely gave to us.
Sometimes I find when my own heart lacks the love that I know I've been so freely given, my lack becomes my invitation to come and freely hear, see, know and remember.
"No one has ever seen God, the only God, who is at the Father's side, he has made him known." John 1:18.
We, the church, have been given the amazing privilege to KNOW Love, Himself, Jesus Christ, our Savior. And not only to know Him, but to respond to His love by letting it flow from the very throne of God, through Christ, and straight into our hearts. Our only response at being given such a great honor and privilege is to repeat God's pattern in giving it away just as freely with which it has been given.
The very nature of God is love.
That means that we, His children, have that same nature.
Love, by definition, does not withhold, but freely flows out from itself onto others. Selfishness is the total negation of love and, like a barricade, stops up the flow.
Love cannot be defined in human terms, for doing so, also negates it, makes it smaller and limits it's capacity to do what by God's nature it alone can do.
It can only flow from God's heart through Christ, to us, and through us, becoming as it goes, the most powerful, unstoppable force in the whole universe.
Won't you let it flow through you today? Oh, how the Father longs to look down upon His children and see them express the glorious nature of His own heart. #perfectmess #Jesus #godscall

"If the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed." John 8:36

Guess what? This may come as a shocking surprise. It may even be a bit insulting to your individual, self-sufficient nature. But, eventually, even the strongest in our midst eventually sense this truth, even if they pretend they don't or once they do, strive all the more to supress it.
Are you ready?
Here it comes...
We are NOT in control!
Sure, we set our alarm clocks, have an agenda, and move according to a pre-determined set of hoops we are programmed to jump through to give ourselves a sense of purpose, a sense of contribution in this world. We live in a facade of our own making, most of us with a deep inner gnawing in our souls that the safe bubble of our facade could pop at any moment, leaving us squirming and suffocating under the weight of our greatest fear; knowing that we are living in an uncertain world, full of scary surprises that our best attempts at controlling can never fully protect us or those we love from.
We are doomed if we really want to face the truth of where we are headed. And we are helpless to do anything about it.
Stricken.
Afflicted.
Crushed.
Oppressed.
Cut off from the land of the living.
This is our lot, and we can do NOTHING to change it.
Except One thing.
There is One hope that we DO have control over.
And this One Hope makes room for all the other hopes for it offers freedom from ALL things, even from all striving.
We can trade our individuality in for Oneness with Christ, our Savior.
We can surrender our lives up to the One Who holds the world, the universe, even our world in His hands.
And we can trade in our need for control for a need for trust in Him instead, trust that offers us rest for our souls.
There was One Who one day long ago looked down upon us, saw our helpless estate, and came for us.
And for us, He became;
Stricken.
Afflicted.
Crushed.
Oppressed.
Cut off from the land of the living.
He let that become His lot in exchange for the chance to offer you the hope of becoming what He alone can offer, free indeed!
I pray that you will make this exchange today. #becomingewe

Wounded Healers, what a calling those of us who have been blessed to be healed, redeemed, and transfromed by the One Who was Wounded for us to be healed.
May we never stop seeing ourselves as anything more than those who have been victims of the most horrific crime of all, sin.
And yet, may we never stop seeing ourselves as less than those who have been radically redeemed by the One Who came to become the most Wounded Healer of all, Jesus.

"He was despised and rejected-a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief. We turned our backs on him and looked the other way. He was despised, and we did not care. Yet it was our weakness he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. We thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins! But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed. All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God's path to follow our own. Yet the LORD laid on him the sins of all of us." Isaiah 53:3-6
The longer I walk with Jesus, the more these words mean to me.
I SEE that there is truly no place to stand, even in myself.
Only Jesus!
And praise Jesus He is there, inside me, all around me. In His wholeness, I am whole. In His Light, I SEE, and even though it often feels as if I don't know where I am going in this world, I am abiding in perfect peace because I KNOW He is my Way.
Thank -You, Jesus, for wearing me so that I can wear You in this world. Forgive me when I desire to look, move, and arrange my life as the world does. Thank You for always taking me back to the Cross, and reminding me where I truly died to that way, so I can live in You, Who IS my WAY. Help us all find our way back to You today so we might live. Gluten free, lower sugar chocolate chip cookies!
This weather makes me want to bake, but we have gluten sensitivity in our family as well as a diabetic.
So these cookies are made with stevia instead of sugar (but still with half the brown sugar) and I ground groats in the vitamix to make gluten free flour. I usually only grind it as it need it as it only keeps for about 10 days.
They bake up beautifully, I think even better with the groat flour and it leaves them with an AWESOME texture.
Thank-You, Jesus, for new adventures in baking, and for warm cookies on rainy days. Thank-You for the good gift of today and all the moments we get to celebrate You in this life by choosing to live it to its fullest. You are our Life and length of days (Duet.30). Amen.

Which are we; wrong, vile, good, or holy?
God doesn't say to change, just know I am coming soon and ,"blessed are those who wash their robes so they can enter through the gates of the city and eat the fruit from the tree of life. Outside the city are the dogs-the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idol worshipers, and all who love a lie." Rev. 22:12-15
We get to choose to stay in our deeds or to step into His.
And only His are Holy and lead us to life.
What a wonder that this very sinful woman who was once outside as a sexually immoral, vile, murderer and idol worshiper was able to make one choice that made me Holy, and that makes me alive.
I will never get over that.
How I pray more will accept this free gift of God's grace before He comes.

This really hit me this morning during quiet time. How often we judge God for condemning sinners. When the real question is, "what am I doing with Jesus?"
That is all that will matter when we stand before Him in heaven and all that should matter to us now.
How am I releasing my heart to the Lordship of Christ? As His light shines in a new area in my life, do I reject it and stay in the darkness or walk into to, even if it means I must see myself, those I love, my circumstances, or maybe even my whole life differently?
We say we love Jesus, but He puts our words to our feet. If we love Him, we will eventually walk as He walked.
We will love His light when it comes because, even if it makes us uncomfortable, it welcomes greater intimacy with our Precious Christ Jesus, the One who loves us and is always leading us forward in triumph.

I have often heard the term, "the Christian thing to do is _____(fill in the blank)". I find that the further I come along with Jesus, the clearer and simpler things become. There is only but one thing to do and that is to follow Jesus_period.
Jesus, Himself, had no place to lay His head in this world. His rest was in His Father, Who lives above this world. And so it is with us who follow Him. We let go of building earthly nests of temporary security here in this life. We let go of it all and entrust it all into our Father's hands Who Knows our loves, our lives, and our Way so much more intimately than we can ever ask or imagine. Jesus becomes the place to lay our head above this world. And from His Presence and Provision, we find all else required to not only follow Him, but to truly love well those with whom He has entrusted us.
I wonder what He sees when we strive to love them outside of His leading? I wonder if He is perplexed when we seek to do the, "Christian thing", instead of following Him.
I wonder how much this world is missing out on Jesus because so many are striving to serve Him instead of following Him. (Based on Luke 9:57-62)

We just came through a huge storm/flood here in Houston, Texas area and since then, I have been overcome with hummingbirds.
Sometimes I try to count (which is hard because they are so fast), but there seems to be as many as 20 out there at this one little feeder
I can only imagine that in God's gracious provision, He knew that this mom stuck in a home with teen girls needed a joyful distraction as much as these little hummers needed life giving nectar, so He brought us all together.
My girls and I have found a tiny refuge and beautiful distraction in these majestic creations and while there is flooding all around us, we are being flooded with hummimgbirds.
Matthew 6:26, "Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?"

Thank-You, Jeaus, for meeting our needs and providing for us in EVERY way. Thank -You for the hummingbirds and for all the ways You make Yourself known, even in the midst of life's storms. You are good all the time. Help us to keep our eyes open and alert to all Your blessings. Amen.

God in us IS the hope of GLORY. He is REAL and He is REAL in us. We get to experience His supernatural attributes in the most ordinary moments, as well as the most chaotic moments. The peace of Christ shows up in and through us and we are the most surprised at our own ability to be supernaturally natural in circumstances that we know would have rocked and torn us in our fleshly state.
God is good and He is good in us.
We find ourselves loving others who we might have never noticed before Christ's heart was alive in us. We find that the things that rocked us before suddenly don't. But there is a sudden urgency for a whole new agenda, that of the heart of God. It is an agenda that He unfolds in and through us as we continually walk with Him and experience His heartbeat within us.
It cannot be copied, or manufactured, it can only happen as we continually obey Jesus command, "follow Me." Matthew 4:19.

Love is not an emotion or feeling, it is a vulnerability that we enter into, willingly or not. It's greatest expression was at the cross... All powerful God becoming completely vulnerable to us. Hands and arms wipe open, nailing down His message to us all, "I love you this much" ... See MoreSee Less

Choosing Life Entry 1

When you choose death, Life stops.  It cannot go on to produce what it is meant to in every aspect of your life.

Death stops, shatters and scatters, giving off a false sense of multiplication which people can mistake for life, but there is no weight to it.

What is more REAL; one-million pieces of glitter or one diamond? Which holds weight and value?
