Introducing Perfect Mess
1 John 1:7
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. (ESV)

Everything seen begins with what we can not see. We were Christ's dream long before we were even born. With Him came our chance to become someone beyond our wildest dreams...someone that only Christ can dream up. "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen." Hebrews 11:1 ... See MoreSee Less
Just came in from driving the kids to school. It's the beginning of the last week of school, the last week to prepare for all the family coming over here for Christmas.
There are schedules, to-do lists, shopping list and of course a house to clean and gifts to wrap. And at the end of all that, there is an ache in my heart that I long for more....of Christmas.
I long to capture that "wonder " that Mary held in her heart as she contemplated the unimaginable Ways of God. And I long to grasp the Holiness and Sacredness of that first night, when angels were too EXCITED to hold it in, thier Joy, expressing God's Joy, that He was FINALLY coming into the world to touch, experience, know, feel, wear, and ultimately die for us, His kids, the ones He longed to be reconciled to.
Its funny how a moment can open a door into your heart to experience what your heart is aching for.
That's what happened to me this morning as I came back home, opened my door to witness this scene between our cat, rightly named Noel, and our nativity.
Despite all the "have to's" screaming out all around, she found a place to snuggle up to the One from Whom all our "get to's" come. Oh come let us Adore You, Jesus! Forgive us when we get so busy planning Your birthday party that we Miss You, the One for Whom and by Whom we have all our reasons to celebrate.
Thanks Noel, our kitty, for this sacred reminder.

World peace is not God's goal! If that were the case, don't you think God would have looked down on his creation at this moment in history with fondness in His heart and thought to Himself, "wow! They are finally hitting the mark!"
But thats not what He did.
Infact, He did the exact opposite.
He frustrated the plans of those who were trying to unite and build a building that reached, "to the heavens."
It's easy for us to sometimes see a plan as good and then assume that it must be God's.
But we can know this for sure, God will never desire us to build or be part of building something that will in any way cause us to be apart from Him, even if it looks like a good thing.
There is a difference between building upon good and building upon God.
And sometimes the hardest adversaries we face are not the overt ones, but the good ones.
When God wanted to bring the world peace, He didn't send a building committee, He sent His Son.
"For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6
And in sending His Son, He gave us each the chance to decide if we would be built in His Kingdom, the Kingdom that IS in the heavens, the one all our hearts ultimately long to call, "home."

"The entrance into the kingdom of God is through the sharp, sudden pains of repentence colliding with man's respectable "goodness."
The longer I walk with God, the more I realize that my part is simply to stay responsive to all He is willing to do in me to conform me into the likeness of His Son, Jesus.
At one time I believed that I had some part of adding to this transaction, but I realize now my only part is to allow myself to stand in Christ, believing He alone can and will unravel me from myself and make His Cross become as real in me as it was meant to be. And in so doing, the resurrection becomes real too. And I know that I am free indeed because of what God did that had nothing to do with me except my recieving the fact that I am chosen to have it. #jesusinme #repentance #redemption #oswald #utmostforhishighest #godlovesyou ... "Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God." 1 John 4:7
It feels as is the world is looking at the church and saying, "where is the love?" Sometimes, I fear we as the church are looking to the world and wondering the same.
And my heart shuddders at the thought that God might be looking down at His kids and wonding, "where is the love?"
After all, He gave us ALL the love He had.
He wrapped Him up in a package that we could comprehend, and we "beheld his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth." John 1:14.
God's love. Perfect love incarnate came for us, leaving us without excuse for not offering back to God that which He so freely gave to us.
Sometimes I find when my own heart lacks the love that I know I've been so freely given, my lack becomes my invitation to come and freely hear, see, know and remember.
"No one has ever seen God, the only God, who is at the Father's side, he has made him known." John 1:18.
We, the church, have been given the amazing privilege to KNOW Love, Himself, Jesus Christ, our Savior. And not only to know Him, but to respond to His love by letting it flow from the very throne of God, through Christ, and straight into our hearts. Our only response at being given such a great honor and privilege is to repeat God's pattern in giving it away just as freely with which it has been given.
The very nature of God is love.
That means that we, His children, have that same nature.
Love, by definition, does not withhold, but freely flows out from itself onto others. Selfishness is the total negation of love and, like a barricade, stops up the flow.
Love cannot be defined in human terms, for doing so, also negates it, makes it smaller and limits it's capacity to do what by God's nature it alone can do.
It can only flow from God's heart through Christ, to us, and through us, becoming as it goes, the most powerful, unstoppable force in the whole universe.
Won't you let it flow through you today? Oh, how the Father longs to look down upon His children and see them express the glorious nature of His own heart. #perfectmess #Jesus #godscall ... See MoreSee Less
